Motorola's ROKR ZN50 touchscreen slider could be a winner

Image
Right around this time last year, we actually had lofty hopes that Motorola would get its handset business in gear and shock us all with an ultra-potent, completely refined smartphone. Here we sit today, still waiting. Still, we can't pass up an opportunity to throw Moto's hardware design team a bone, as the ROKR ZN50 is downright sexy from any angle. The music-centric, full touchscreen slider packs a 3.2-inch panel (427 x 240 resolution), automatic screen rotation, shake to switch tracks, a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, Bluetooth stereo headset support, SRS WOW HD audio tech and a battery good for 30 hours of audio playback. There's also a T-DMB TV tuner, 4GB of inbuilt memory, a microSDHC card slot, 3.2 megapixel camera, an e-dictionary and support for 7.2Mbps HSDPA. Sadly, it seems as if the phone is being reserved for the Korean market, but seriously, can you imagine this hitting North America with Android loaded on?

HTC TOUCH HERO

Image
Well folks, just about an hour after the HTC Hero’s official website was discovered, HTC went ahead and officially unveiled the phone. While there aren’t many new details other than what was stated on the website (Qualcomm 528MHz processor, 5MP camera, 3.2″ touch-screen) we do know that the white model will feature Teflon coating to keep it stain (and scratch?) free. However we failed to mention that it will feature a Flash rendering web browser, UI customization, and full integration of social networking sites like Flickr and Facebook. Furthermore, HTC let us know that the Hero will arrive on an announced carrier in Europe next month and Asia last this summer. As for North America, HTC says it will hit later on in 2009. We’ll continue to update this post with pictures and information as HTC unveils more. HTC Hero Press Release: LONDON – June 24, 2009 – HTC Corporation, a global designer of mobile phones, today debuted HTC Sense™, an intuitive and seamless experience that will be intro

COMPLETELY NEW SONY PSP COMING IN 2009

Image
They must be keeping Sony Computer Entertainment chief in some dark cave, because he could quite possibly be well outside of the loop. Despite earlier reports that Sony currently has no plans to release a PSP2, newer reports have surfaced saying that not only are they working on one, but the new gaming handheld could be ready some time next year. Chalk this up in the rumor column, but Eurogamer has apparently procured some “publisher sources” saying that a second PlayStation Portable (PSP2) is well into development, because these game publishers are already developing titles for the currently nonexistent handheld. If the dev teams are already working on games for the new portable system, this would mean that the Sony PSP2, whatever it may be called, can only be a short while away. In this way, we could very well be looking at the unexpected launch of the PSP2 by the end of next year, if not shortly thereafter. Remember that the original PSP hit store shelves in 2004, so it’s due for an
